Tips for driven hunt in Spain

In older posts, we have talked about the huge tradition in partridge shooting, so typical in Spain. Also, we gave you some shooting tips to practice this sport. But we think it is so important to be aware of the importance of being careful, so we have made a list of some tips for driven hunt:

TIPS FOR DRIVEN HUNT

  1. Listen to the experts

This is the most important thing. Don´t assume you know more than the experts. Trust in people who have a strong experience in the field. If you listen, you will learn faster!

  1. Watch your back

Pay attention to the noises. Specially in the small game, some animals get up when you pass by. Maybe, if you turn around you could see more birds!

  1. Shoot with both eyes open

The best way to place a piece in the crosshairs is to keep both eyes open, so that the dominant eye sees the animal in the spotlight and the other eye keeps alert around the bird. It requires practice, but with perseverance you will finally do it in a natural way.

  1. Keep the sun on your back

Follow this advice especially at sunrise and sunset, when the sun is lower. If you try to make the shot facing the sun, it could blind you and make you miss your target.

  1. Be quiet

If the partridge suddenly appears at close range, don´t act sharply. Hold your weapon very slowly. Probably, the partridge would be also surprised, so we should stop for a moment, take advantage of it and, finally, make the shot.
