RED PARTRIDGE HABITAT

The partridge is known for its energetic and fast flight. It’s usually found in Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East, but it also lives in certain territories of America. Depending on the climate of each country, the red partridge habitat changes. Normally, the partridge lives in plains, low hills, meadows and rocky areas. The most common type of partridge is the red-legged partridge, which has a life expectancy of 6 – 10 years.

The red partridge diet is based on seeds. The main seeds they feed on are wheat, oats and barley, but they also eat earthworms, larvas, leaves and berries, so it is an omnivorous bird. Basically, it depends on the climate conditions and the food that they can find. Also, the red-legged partridge is well adapted to the lack of water.

It is a sedentary animal that lives in groups of 16 to 25 individuals. The nest is usually settled in the ground, covered by leaves and shrubbery. The female partridge incubates for three weeks and usually has between ten and seventeen eggs.
